Formação:
Presente do verbo to be + going to + verbo principal
Modo Afirmativo:
E.x: She is going to play.
Modo Negativo:
E.x: She is not going to play.
Modo Interrogativo:
E.x: Is she going to play?

To be going to ( future ) é usado para expressar:
* ações que vão acontecer no futuro próximo.
E.x:
Watch out! We are going to crash.
* planos ou intenções.
E.x:
I am going to visit her tonight.
*probabilidade
E.x:
She is probably going to buy a car next month.

Formação:
Passado do verbo to be + going to + verbo principal
Modo Afirmativo:
E.x: They were going to swim.
Modo Negativo:
E.x: They were not going to swim.
Modo Interrogativo:
E.x: Were they going to swim?

To be going to ( past ) é usado para expressar:
* uma ação planejada, mas que por algum motivo não foi realizada.
E.xs:
He was going to commit suicide, but a man saved his life. (Ele ia cometer suicídio, mas um homem salvou a sua vida.)
I was going to study, but I was too tired.
My parents were going to arrive early, but they missed the train.
